- The 500 is hard to enhance except via used equipment. Look in
- comp.sys.amiga.marketplace for lots of A500 expansion gear. HD, accelerators,
- memory, and software are pretty common, not too expensive.

- An Amiga can read/write MS-DOS 720k disks (on a A500's internal drive). If
- you have OS2.1 for the machine, it will include CrossDos to do so. If not,
- there is a shareware program which can do it, MessyDos. However, PC disks
- have an 8 letter file name limit, which can cause problems. Compressed files
- will get around this, putting them into an archive (ZIP or LHA, etc.).
-
- Another program, CrossMac, will handle using Mac disks on the Amiga. It may
- require you to buy a new drive also (for apple compatibility, may need high
- density).
-
- A null modem cable can work to link an Mac to an Amiga. You'll need a
- special one, Mac to IBM type, which doesn't unnecessarily ground unused
- contacts. The Amiga puts out power on some of the serial port's lines to
- power external devices. I think that Radio Shack's null modem adapters, among
- others, don't have any problems. Once linked, a comm program running on both
- machines can be used to transfer files.
